We have a relatively well positioned set of tenements. We do not have to contend with major development on top of the goldfield. We also have only 2 major land holders with whom we need to discuss and approve the vast majority of our exploration programs.
Most of the licences are covered by the Castlemaine Diggings Heritage National Park and to the north there is a large commercial pine plantation. When enacting the legislation that created the Castlemaine Diggings Heritage National Park, specific reference was made for the recognition that mining infrastructure such as vent raises would be permitted within the Park. The Park stands in recognition of the cultural significance that mining has had on the development of Central Victoria.
The Park extends to a depth of 100m within which mining is prohibited. All exploration is conducted under approved work programs.
We have carried out a conceptual study into locating a portal and plant nestled within the plantation. We are comfortable with permitting issues at this time in this area that is devoid of any park values and buffered away from housing.
